Great news! We've been awarded the USA Curling Dar Curtis grant for our School of Rocks program, our youth curling program aimed at middle and high school students in Los Angeles to expose them to the sport of curling.

We aim to promote values of teamwork, fitness, communication, strategy and sportsmanship, both on and off the ice. Combining in-school floor curling curriculum with practical on-ice experience, our goal is to bring young curlers and their families to the sport, and to foster a life long love of the game.

Email us today to find out more about how you or your school can get involved!

    Dedicated Ice Update

    Hi curlers,

Well, as you know, we launched our dedicated ice campaign in ernest this summer when we ran our Viking River Cruise raffle. It was a successful promotion that raised $24,000 for dedicated ice in southern California. Well done!

The Board of Directors and the Long Term Planning Committee have been working hard to keep things moving along since our last member meeting in April. We’ve continued to work on the San Fernando option while exploring other options along the way. (Members, if you need a refresher, there's information posted in the members only forum).

Here’s where we’re at right now:

We’ve been negotiating with the prospective landlords in San Fernando over the past few months and are getting very close on terms. It’s a very exciting time as it means once we agree on terms of a Letter of Intent that outlines the expectation of both parties, we can enter negotiations on an actual lease. So far, the process has been pleasant as the landlords are keen to work with us and come up with some creative solutions. Things are on the right track, and we're feeling very positive about it.

We’ve also been working with the city council in San Fernando, who are excited about the prospect of us coming to town. We are exploring different ways we can work together and leverage our respective connections and resources to bring this unique activity to the city.

All in all, very positive, and the wheels are in motion. In the coming weeks we will host further info sessions to update everyone and answer questions. We want to be sure we’re all on the same page as we move forward.

Next up, we have the LA2050 grant challenge. We’ll be asking you to share your #ConnectWithCurling moments on social media. Did you meet a friend or the love of your life? Did you collaborate on a project with your curling pals? Has volunteering been rewarding for you?

Also: If you’re interesting in being more involved, we can always use more help. Let us know!

Well, its Official!  Hollywood Curling is officially pursuing dedicated ice to build a permanent home for curling in Los Angeles!  Things are moving quickly, and we hope to have big news to share with you this summer.

In the meantime, a HUGE thank you to our friends at the San Francisco Bay Area Curling Club for their generous reciprocating donation of $5000 to our dedicated ice fund.  We've always shared a close relationship with our brothers up north, and we are thrilled to support their journey towards dedicated ice righteousness, just as they have supported us.

Our capital campaign officially kicked off three weeks ago with our Cruise Raffle. Thanks to Viking River Cruises, we're giving you the chance to win a 'Romantic Danube' cruise for two any time in 2016, valued at close to $9000!  Read more about it and order your tickets on our raffle page.

If you don't recognize those names, you should!  Colin and Braeden played lead and third respectively for Manitoba at the 2015 Tim Horton's Brier.  Colin is recently sporting a shiny new Ford truck as the winner of the Ford Hot Shots competition at the Brier. Chelsea Carey is a 2014 Canadian Bronze Medalist, Manitoba Scotties Provincial Champion, and placed fourth at the 2013 Olympic Trials for Canada.  All three of these curlers are ones to keep your eyes on in the years to come!

This one of a kind eBay auction begins on Sunday at 6:00 p.m. PDT.   Visit our eBay page starting Sunday, and get ready to bid.
Win this auction, and if you've already paid for your bonspiel entry, we will either credit you your $105 entry fee, or provide you with a tax-deductible letter, your choice.

Curlers Can Cook- almost sounds like it should be the title of Colin's future cookbook....  When he's not on the ice, Chef Hodgson can be found whipping up yummy creations in the kitchen.
Win this auction, and you and your team will enjoy a gourmet meal prepared by Colin himself. You'll also be joined by his teammate, Braeden Moskowy, and Chelsea Carey.  Here's your chance to rub elbows with some of Canada's up and coming stars of the curling world.  What better way to kick off the bonspiel than this exclusive opportunity?
Hosted by Hollywood Curling members Liza and Stephen Beres, this all goes down less than 2 miles from the rink and the host hotel. You'll have the option of dinner on Thursday, July 2 or brunch on Friday, July 3- pick the option that best suits your travel plans, and we'll make sure you still have time to make it to your first draw!
This eBay auction will go live on Sunday, so be sure to bid early and bid often!
