The Hollywood Curling Ice Technician Grant is a program intended to support our members who are interested in the art of curling ice making and to increase ice making knowledge within our club. The program will provide a $500 stipend to approved members to attend an ice technician course of their choosing in exchange for working on our Hollywood ice. Ice tech course must be USCA, WCF, or Curling Canada approved.

Participants will receive $250 up front for course related expenses, and the other $250 upon completion of the following supplemental activities:

  • Create instructions/hold a seminar to standardize ice prep for league night

  • Conduct monthly ice surveys to provide the rink ice crew feedback on the ice surface

  • Participate on the 2017 Blockbuster Bonspiel ice crew (entry fee will also be comped if you choose to play)

To apply, please send an email to board@hollywoodcurling.org and include:

  • A bio, including any previous ice tech experience

  • Explain why you are interested in becoming an ice tech

  • Indicate the course you plan to attend, along with a budget for your trip

  • Any other information you feel is relevant to your application

Applicants will be chosen on a rolling basis.

In the event a fellow is unable to complete their duties, any monies dispersed from the club must be returned within 30 days of notice.
